Reidar Olsen, the man behind DANHEIM has been producing music all the way back in his teenage years. Focusing on mostly electronic music, it wasn’t until 2016 that he fused this love for music production with his Danish roots. Loosely meaning ‘Danish home’, DANHEIM is the perfect marriage of old Norse mythology with ambient electronic music, à la Brian Eno.
With his signing to Season of Mist, DANHEIM now reminiscences to the two albums that started it all: Munarvágr & Mannavegr.
Mannavegr is the album that really showcases how brilliant Olsen is in the studio. Ultra clean and super clear production carves a path to a full sonic palette of underlying clicks, warhorns, drone-like synths and a clever use of samples from nature. It transports you straight to the viking time, yet remains fresh in its production.
While these albums have been available to all on streaming platforms for a few years now, it’s with DANHEIM‘s signing to Season of Mist that they’re now exclusively offered on physical formats.
