Their identities remain hidden, but this year, Gaerea are out to prove that they’re no longer strictly a black metal band. With their upcoming new album, the Portuguese masked sensations are surfacing to the top of extreme metal. While the pensive, post-rock passages only heighten its crushing blows, the latest single off Coma is the first song in the band’s mantle-worthy discography to feature clean singing.
Today, Gaerea are announcing yet another milestone with their first U.S. cover story. Read about the inspirations and songwriting process behind Coma in the latest issue of Outburn.
“We are proud to be featured on the cover of Outburn“, Gaerea says. “Our thanks goes out to Jeremy and his staff for this honor“.
“Gaerea have been a musically and visually intriguing band since they were first introduced to the metal scene“, says Outburn‘s Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Saffer. “Gaerea’s mystique, coupled with some of the best metal to be released in the past few years, certainly solidifies the validity of them as a band that has earned and deserves to be on magazine covers. We are elated to be the first U.S. magazine to put them on a cover and can’t wait for fans to go behind the masks and take a look into the world of Gaerea with Issue #109. Here’s to many more!”
