US Melodic Symphonic Metal Discovery The Lucidia Project Signs With Wormholedeath

Get ready for a wave of melodic symphonic metal with a modern twist! Rising US stars The Lucidia Project have signed a record deal with Wormholedeath Records for their EP, “Requiem,” set for release on September 6th, 2024.

The Lucidia Project statement:

Hello, we are The Lucidia Project. We are a band from Fargo North Dakota (The northern part of the midwestern United States) and to say that we are shocked and grateful for this opportunity to sign with WormHoleDeath Records would be an understatement. Jacopo, who is with the A and R at WormHoleDeath actually reached out to us. He gave us some contact info and I (Chase) reached out to Carlo regarding our music. We honestly were not expecting anything to come of it because we are so new at this as a band, and we have such a small discography right now, that the idea that a record label, let alone one that would have all the connections that this one has, would want work with us was a pipe dream. But here we are, Carlo reached back out to us with a lovely email regarding our Requiem EP, and wanted to sign us for it right away. I needed to think about it, we as a band needed to do our due diligence and research on what this partnership means, and I needed to have discussions with the rest of the band on how we move forward. We decided that this partnership would be a good career move for us, for our EP, and for any future music that WormHoleDeath wishes to sign.
In regards to our sound, we are a fusion project. We are trying to create a modernized version of Symphonic metal that blends Alternative rock/metal, Doom metal, elements of gothic and death metal, as well as piano-driven pop music. With The Requiem EP, we tried to blend all these influences in a coherent way, and in future releases, we will be trying to perfect this even more.

“REQUIEM”

In regards to the Requiem EP, we were originally going to release Requiem as a standalone single, but shortly after Requiem was created …the End of the Lies was written very quickly, in about 30 minutes we had almost the entire song. Those two songs are related and detail a very toxic friendship/relationship I (Chase) was dealing with. Requiem almost has an element of spirituality to it because I needed to lean on my higher power to get me through that situation, and the end of the lies, is where I finally processed all my anger around that situation. Once those two songs were established, it was decided that we would make our first professionally mixed EP. We wrote two more songs, Eventide and Deliverance for this EP, and wanted to bring in the atmospheric and symphonic elements to our sound with those two songs. Eventide is a song that I had in my back pocket for almost a decade, but I just never got around to finishing it, I brought it to Ben and the two of us hashed out the final structure and chord progressions. It’s about one’s susceptibility to propaganda, and how easy it is for humanity to turn on each other. I wanted to explore this broader psychological topic and make it this epic-sounding metal song. Deliverance is about grieving. I lost my aunt to suicide in 2016, and I never fully processed it. This song is my way of doing that. Ben helped write the structures and lead guitar lines on all the songs. Chris helped with writing rhythm guitars on requiem as well as coming up with that spoken word idea at the end of the song. We feel like this EP gave us our foundation sound-wise as we were exploring how to combine symphonic metal with alternative rock, dark metal genres, and piano-driven songwriting.
